Our Safeguarding Commitment

Beverley Barracudas Swimming Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We aim to provide a safe, positive and inclusive environment where every swimmer can train, compete and develop with confidence. All club activities follow Swim England safeguarding guidance and recognised good practice.

Everyone involved in the club shares responsibility for maintaining this safe environment.

Swim England Policies

The club operates in accordance with Swim England safeguarding policies, including the Wavepower framework and Codes of Conduct.

These policies cover safe coaching practice, recruitment checks, behaviour standards, supervision requirements and safeguarding procedures.

All members, parents, coaches and volunteers are expected to follow these national standards at all times.

Your first contact

Club Welfare Officers

Our Club Welfare Officers are the first point of contact for any safeguarding or welfare concerns.

They are trained to listen, provide guidance and take appropriate action where needed. All concerns are handled sensitively and confidentially.

Respectful club environment

Behaviour Expectations

All swimmers, parents, coaches and volunteers must follow Swim England Codes of Conduct and club behaviour standards.

We expect respectful communication, supportive behaviour and positive conduct both poolside and at competitions.

Maintaining a respectful environment helps ensure every swimmer feels safe and supported.

If something worries you

When To Raise Concerns

Please speak to the Welfare Officer if you have concerns about:

• A swimmer’s safety or wellbeing
• Bullying or inappropriate behaviour
• Coaching conduct or training environment
• Behaviour from another member
• Any situation that does not feel right

Concerns can be raised by swimmers, parents or volunteers.

Speak to us safely

How To Report

Safeguarding concerns can be reported:

• Directly to the Club Welfare Officer
• To a coach or committee member
• Through Swim England safeguarding channels

All reports are taken seriously and handled in line with safeguarding procedures.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact emergency services on 999

Photography & Communication

The club follows Swim England guidance regarding photography, filming and online communication.

Photography at club activities may only take place in accordance with club policy and appropriate consent.

This helps protect members’ privacy and ensures images are used responsibly.  

Please make your child aware of the Swim England Mobile Phone safeguarding policy by sharing the following video with them.
